The Department of Defense has identified 3,635 American service members who have died since the start of the Iraq war. It confirmed the deaths of the following Americans yesterday:

LYNCH, Robert A., 20, Lance Cpl., Marines; Louisville, Ky.; Third Marine Division

MATTERO, Joshua P., 29, Staff Sgt.; Army; San Diego; 63rd Explosive Ordnance Battalion

McRAE, James H., 22, Cpl., Marines; Springtown, Tex.; Third Marine Logistics Group

ZINDARS, Matthew R., 21, Marines; Watertown, Wis.; First Marine Division
